start. Kick Butt. Feel Better.
I had been working out for a couple of months and although I felt better, I wasn’t seeing the results I was hoping for in regards to weight loss. I joined the 6-week challenge knowing that my nutrition was a problem and that I needed a change.
Mark gave me a very specific meal plan geared toward my needs and also a recipe book that could be used with the list of foods allowed. Having a structured program that took the guesswork out was exactly what I needed, along with personalized coaching to keep me accountable.
In 6 short weeks, I lost 7.3% body fat and saw significant changes in my body. Getting my nutrition in order also made the work that I was doing in the CrossFit classes even more successful. The 6-week challenge helped me to create a healthier relationship with food and restored my self-confidence that I CAN make the changes necessary to be a healthier, happier version of myself. I highly recommend it!

I started CrossFit about two years ago at the age of 51 without even knowing what CrossFit was. I just knew I needed to lose weight and get in shape. When I got to the gym and saw the workout, I admit I was intimidated, but needn’t have worried. The coaches helped me to adjust the work.

Something had to change for me a few years ago. I sat all day at work and the toll was setting in. Family history of heart disease and I was starting to feel joint pain that messed with my sleep. My 2 young boys were running circles around me. I was struggling, and my wife could see it.
She came across the 6-week challenge, and we both gave it shot. I started showing up and training 3-4 days a week and stuck to the plan as prescribed. In 6 weeks, I lost 22 pounds, was able to start sleeping on my back, and cholesterol came back in check. All by showing up to put in the work. Then….1.5 years into my journey, I ruptured my left Achilles. That sucked! An injury that most say you will never really come back from. The first surgeon told me I could deal with the disability, and they only do surgery on athletes. That I wasn’t worth the risk. Then I read something that motivated me. “DON’T QUIT. YOU’RE ALREADY IN PAIN. YOU’RE ALREADY HURT. GET A REWARD FROM IT!” The second surgeon I saw thought I was worth it. I had surgery and as soon as I was able to walk in an air cast, I was back at CrossFit 517 scaling WOD’s. Less than a year after surgery, I am back to running, jumping rope…. even 1 legged box jumps. Rebuilding with the support of physical therapy and CrossFit 517 and again…showing up to put in the work. For the second time in 3 years, I have my health back. Not only do I keep up with my kids, I am inspiring them! Thank you to the coaches and community of friends at CrossFit 517!!!
