I had been working out for a couple of months and although I felt better, I wasn’t seeing the results I was hoping for in regards to weight loss. I joined the 6-week challenge knowing that my nutrition was a problem and that I needed a change.
Mark gave me a very specific meal plan geared toward my needs and also a recipe book that could be used with the list of foods allowed. Having a structured program that took the guesswork out was exactly what I needed, along with personalized coaching to keep me accountable.
In 6 short weeks, I lost 7.3% body fat and saw significant changes in my body. Getting my nutrition in order also made the work that I was doing in the CrossFit classes even more successful. I started CrossFit about two years ago at the age of 51 without even knowing what CrossFit was. I just knew I needed to lose weight and get in shape. When I got to the gym and saw the workout, I admit I was intimidated, but needn’t have worried. The coaches helped me to adjust the work.
I started coming to CrossFit 517 about 4 years ago. I walked in on a whim wanting to add something to my running workouts. I had no clue what I was getting myself into, and 4 years later, I’m still here.
This past summer, I decided to try the 45-day challenge the gym offers.
I put on some weight that I had previously lost (thanks to COVID), and I didn’t feel good during my workouts. It was not an easy change but it ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I lost 18 pounds, decreased my body fat, and increased muscle mass considerably. I feel so much stronger and more confident. I have had several PR lifts by 10-20 pounds, and after four years, I finally lifted 100+ pounds above my head and completed my first pull-ups. I’ve gained so much more confidence to push myself every day, and at CrossFit 517, I know the coaches will help me do that.
Whether finishing first or last in a workout, everyone in the class is your biggest supporter, and believe me, I am one of those that is usually last. CrossFit looks very intimidating, and you will look at a workout and think how I can do that? That’s the other reason I love this the workouts can be scaled to any fitness level, and you still get a great sweaty workout. On my days off of work, I show up to the gym (even if I have to go at 6 am to get my training in); it’s always the best part of my day.”
